SS21 Trends: Monochrome

Whilst usually you would expect bold brights and soft pastels for spring, this season monochrome looks are having a moment.

Designers including Prada, Chanel and Dolce and Gabbana proved black and white can be anything but boring by adding a touch of maximalism to each look. Prada used loud graphics and oversized silhouettes, Chanel added glittering accessories and embellishments and Dolce and Gabbana utilised oversized prints and accessories.

Monochrome is an easy trend to incorporate into your own wardrobe as it includes pieces you probably already own! Its also a great investment as black and white is always in style and is a great way to look effortlessly chic. If you are looking for ways to make your wardrobe more sustainable why not invest in some key monochrome pieces that you love and want to wear again and again, then add in some colourful accessories you can swap out for the perfect outfit every time.

For a put-together look, wear a black bra top over an oversized white shirt and add matching black accessories. Wearing a bra top over an oversized shirt is a great way to give your outfit some shape, creating a more feminine feel.

For a trendy street style look, wear a pair of leather trousers with a matching black top and contrasting accessories. A bum-bag worn cross body as seen on Hailey Bieber adds a cool, youthful look.

Throw a black blazer on over a white dress for an easy monochrome look. Add bright accessories for a pop of colour!
